リバース・フォールト
寄る辺もなく森を動く、蛇のように長い動物のことを思う。両眼が口と肛門ほどに離れている。動物にはどう森が見えているのだろう。草木は折り重なり、光と陰りとが重なる。私たちは両眼が離れていても、それぞれの視野が部分的に重なるからこそ、自分の立つ場所が視覚的にわかるのだろう。ふだん両眼の視野がが遠く離れたその動物は、二つの視界を通じて、自らがいる場所をどのように感じるのだろう。
Reverse Fault
Think of a long animal like a snake that moves in the forest without relatives to depends on. Both eyes are as far apart as the mouth and anus. How does the animal see the forest? The plants are folded and the light and the shadow overlap. Even if the eyes are separated, we can visually recognize where we stand because the fields of view partially overlap. How does the animal, who usually have far distant visual fields, feel their place through their two fields of view?
